While you're with us, visit Joplin
Joplin Museum Complex - It is composed of the Everett J. Ritchie Tri-State Mineral Museum
and the Dorothea B. Hoover Historical Museum.
For art lovers Thomas Hart Benton's last large scale signed artwork, a mural depicting Joplin's early history, can be viewed at City Hall in downtown Joplin. Benton was native to the area.
Spiva Art Center is also conveniently located downtown.
An eight or nine mile drive southeast will take you to the beautiful George Washington Carver National Monument. On its grounds are a museum and a delightful walking trail.
Traveling east about the same distance toward Carthage will take you to Sam Butcher's Precious Moments Chapel.
Also in Carthage is the Battle of Carthage State Historic Site and a Civil War museum, along with many spectacular Victorian homes.
For other Joplin area activities and attractions, see the Joplin CVB website or Carthage CVB website.
